Recommended. Saab may have successfully untangled itself from GM's ownership, but the American giant's fingerprints are all over the new 9-5. We find out if the most important Saab in a decade can still compete.
Recommended. The Audi A1 has supreme build quality, luxury and technology to match the Mini - and a proper sized boot. But the styling is conservative and driving experience uninspiring.
Recommended. Volvo's new S60 might not be quite good enough to weaken the German stranglehold on the premium saloon market, but it's a worthy effort and marks a return to form for the manufacturer.
Average. Mitsubishi calls its new crossover the 'game changer' - it isn't quite that good, but the ASX is certainly worth a look in a burgeoning market.
Highly Recommended. The new 5 Series has taken an already impressive car and improved it - the result is an executive saloon that handles like a sports car.
Recommended. As good to drive as it looks, especially the THP200 which is the best-handling Peugeot for years. It's comfortable, well finished, and has a big boot, but the rear seats are only for kids.
Recommended. But only if you're a fan of the Touareg's conspicuous strengths. Refinement, comfort and quality make the car a worthy successor to the original model, but the all-new Touareg ultimately fails to threaten the class leaders.
Highly Recommended. The styling of the new XJ at last brings Jaguar into the current century. Great to look at, great to drive and with excellent engines. The only question mark - amazingly for a Jaguar - is over the ride quality.
Recommended. Good looking, well equipped and cheap, the ix35 looks set to continue the success Hyundai has enjoyed with smaller cars. Make sure you pick the right engine though.
Recommended. Big and comfortable, Audi has taken the top spot over the Mercedes S-Class and the BMW 7-series. It's just a shame it doesn't look as good as it is to live with.
Highly recommended. The 458 Italia is the new supercar benchmark, delivering genuine supercar performance and handling, all the thrills you expect from a Ferrari, plus surprising refinement and ease of use.
Recommended. A much-improved Astra, especially in terms of interior finish, space, ride, handling and refinement. Small diesels apart, it's up there with the Ford Focus and VW Golf class best.
Recommended. Mercedes is back on form with its most important model. It has all the traditional qualities of discreet good looks, refined performance and quality construction.
Highly recommended. Lotus's 2+2 offers a compelling alternative to a Porsche Cayman, with fine handling, a supple ride and more extreme looks. Some quirks let it down but, overall, it's an impressive package.
Recommended. Fifth generation Polo is frugal, precision engineered, comfortable, quiet and benefits from a sharp, timeless design. But it's not as fun as a Ford Fiesta.
Recommended. Latest Z4 is a compelling and quick sports car made easier to own with a folding metal roof and more fuel efficient engines. The looks are still an acquired taste, though.
Recommended. Second-generation hybrid SUV massively improves on its predecessor and is efficient in the real world. But you'll have to pay quite a high price to own one.
