Potential buyers of older cars will be put off making a purchase over the coming months if a sustained spell of poor weather hits the UK.

December is typically a slow month for the older car market and a period of bad weather could well act as a further deterrent for those considering buying. Many consumers prefer to venture out onto forecourts on milder days, so a cold snap could make this a bleak winter for dealers already suffering from a downturn in trade.

Prospects for business in January are unsettled, and weather conditions will play a key role in determining the fortunes of the older car market over the coming months.

There will be buyers about, but a number of factors may put them off committing to a purchase at present, the weather being one of them. If conditions remain relatively clement, sales may not be hit too hard.
